Personal Statement

Dr. Vignes Anand Srinivasalu is a clinician-scientist with over a decade of clinical experience and more than seven years in research, currently serving as Scientist ‘C’ (Medical) at ICMR–NIRT. His work spans randomized trials, drug and vaccine studies, and epidemiological research in tuberculosis. He provides care for TB patients, including drug-resistant cases, while actively mentoring students and healthcare professionals. He has contributed to Cochrane Diagnostic Test Accuracy Reviews and WHO TB diagnostic guidelines. With numerous peer-reviewed publications, his research focuses on infectious diseases, particularly tuberculosis, aiming to advance diagnostics, treatment, and public health outcomes.

Research Focus

  • • Clinical trials, particularly randomized controlled trials on novel anti-TB drugs and treatment regimens
  • • Systematic reviews and meta-analyses covering diagnostic, prognostic, and interventional research
  • • Biostatistics, data analysis, and AI-assisted approaches in TB diagnosis and management
  • • Diagnostic and therapeutic research in extrapulmonary TB, including TB–diabetes interactions
  • • Infectious diseases and therapeutics, supported by formal training in infectious diseases

Ongoing projects as Principal investigator

    1. Utility of MPT64 Immunocytochemistry in Diagnosing and Redefining Treatment Outcomes in Peripheral Tuberculous Lymphadenitis (UMPIRE Study)

    2. Development of an Auscultatory Sound Bank in Pulmonary Tuberculosis using a Digital Stethoscope
