Personal Statement

I am a medical biochemist and researcher at the Indian Council of Medical Research – National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (ICMR-NIRT), with a focus on biomarker discovery and translational research in infectious diseases. My work integrates clinical biochemistry, molecular biology, and laboratory medicine to understand disease mechanisms and improve diagnostics and patient outcomes. With training in India and international research experience, I am committed to advancing evidence-based science, strengthening laboratory quality systems, and mentoring the next generation of researchers while contributing to national efforts in tuberculosis control and public health.

Research Focus

    • Intestinal barrier integrity and its role in disease pathogenesis, with focus on biomarker identification and clinical correlations.

    • Biomarker discovery in tuberculosis and infectious diseases for improved diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and disease prognosis.

    • Inflammation, oxidative stress, and cardiovascular risk markers in chronic diseases such as nephrotic syndrome and metabolic disorders.

    • Molecular and cellular approaches in infectious disease research, including cell culture, PCR-based techniques, and biomarker assays.

    • Clinical biochemistry and translational laboratory research, integrating laboratory findings with clinical outcomes to improve patient care.

Ongoing projects as Principal investigator

Assessment of Intestinal barrier integrity in Tuberculosis and its association with anti-TB drug levels
